Pharma Logistics Glossary: Temperature Controlled Logistics
The efficacy of medicines is often sensitive to a range of parameters: humidity, shock, temperature, light exposure. Therefore when transporting these sensitive medicines from the manufacturer to the patient controls must be deployed to ensure that product degradation does not occur. Temperature controlled logistics focuses on the measures in place to ensure a temperature bracket is maintained throughout transit. This chain of controlled temperature can be threatened or broken due to mechanical breakdowns, traffic delays, theft, human error and weather disruptions.
